If you have decided to quit smoking and would like to try hypnotherapy, let me give you a step by step guideline of exactly what a session with me would entail.

Firstly, I would have a conversation with you beforehand, to ascertain the finer details such as:

How long have you been a smoker?

Why have you decided to give up smoking now?

And the most important question of all – how motivated are you to quit?

This would be on a scale of 1 – 10, 10 being the most motivated you are.  (I would like to add here that if I think the score for your motivation is too low, I will be totally honest with you and say so.  Hypnotherapy will not work unless you want to make certain changes and I wouldn’t want you to waste your time or money if you weren’t totally committed to quitting).

So, with those formalities in place, we would make an appointment to meet.

At our appointment, before we go through a hypnotherapy session, I will take you through a pre-talk, which in my mind is the most important part of the session because it clarifies exactly why you want to give up smoking.  The pre-talk will cover many topics including coping mechanisms.  Depending on the individual’s situation the pre-talk can be quite an emotional experience as it does touch upon probable realistic scenarios.

Once we have gone through our pre-talk session, then we begin our hypnotherapy session.  This will be in four sections:

  1. Induction – this is a section which relaxes the whole body and is a very pleasurable experience.
  2. Deepener – so with your body relaxed, we then start to relax your mind with a meditative experience which gets you into an even deeper state of relaxation.
  3. Suggestion – now we have got your mind to a relaxed state, your subconscious mind will be open to suggestion and this is where the changes for your desired outcome are made.
  4. Reorientation – After a relaxing hypnotherapy session, I will bring you back to the room alert and ready for the day ahead.

During hypnosis you will be aware of everything that is going on around you.  This is simply because all hypnosis is self-hypnosis, and as a hypnotherapist, I am merely the facilitator who is guiding you towards your goal.

Please do get in touch if you have any questions.

Best wishes
